Grinding a Vane in one Setup
update 20.12.2011: Until two days ago you could see the editing of a Vane in this movie. Pretty impressive! However, too impressive for my colleagues from the application technology, who are of the opinion that we are betraying too much know-how here. If you would like to watch this film in a protected area because you have a similar grinding task, please write to us.
Complex geometries and demanding materials, all in one clamping, please. A good day for our software development starts with such a task. And when the first component on one of our machines is completely ground, and all customer requirements are met, our specialists are really satisfied. An example from the aerospace sector A Vane, as you can see in the application film above, is a sealing element in the aircraft turbine that directs the air flows directly onto the turbine blade so that the air flow can be used optimally. After all, energy efficiency is always an important issue in the aircraft industry. To ensure that the Vane can withstand extreme loads for as long as possible, it is made of high-alloy steel that is difficult to machine. A demanding task for machining.
We have solved this problem on our latest machine, the Multigrind® CA. With its five axes, intelligent clamping and high drive power, the Multigrind® CA can also machine components with geometries that are very difficult to access in a single clamping operation. So, if you ever want to economically grind a really complex part, write to my colleague Wolfram Hermle. He and his team are looking forward to any challenge.
I wish you a good week!
Thomas Bader
