Do beautiful machines grind better?
Just over a year ago, we received the coveted Red Dot Design Award for exemplary industrial design for our flagship Multigrind® CB. What everyone here in the company was really happy about. After all, we have shown that the combination of performance and aesthetics is not only appreciated by Pininfarina's car designers, but also by Swabian machine builders in Trossingen; by the way, also by customers who already have a Multigrind® CB in their production. Of course, our users, who, for example, grind highly complex knee implants on a Multigrind® CB, are most pleased with the convincing grinding data and technical refinements such as a grinding wheel changer, which holds up to 17 grinding wheels and changes them in a maximum of 12 seconds. But, and we hear this again and again, our Multigrind® CB also looks good in a production hall.
And let's be honest, we all prefer to work with attractive tools, provided the performance is right. Speaking of which, did you know that more beautiful people often earn more? No? Neither did I, but at least Hermann Unterstöger is surprised about that in an interesting article in Süddeutsche of 22.06.2009. In summary, it can be said that beautiful people can potentially develop more self-esteem through their attractive appearance. As a result, according to a study by the Journal of Applied Psychology, their work makes them less of an effort; and as a result of their good work performance, they get a pleasant salary increase from time to time. So far so good. In any case, a beautiful external design does not stand in the way of an excellent grinding result, provided it is a Multigrind® CB. And our customers do not learn this from studies, but experience it whenever they grind with their Multigrind® CB. How important is the design of a grinding machine to you?
