  • Tripod joints

The tripod joint is also known as a tripoid joint. A tripod joint is a type of constant velocity joint and comprises an inner and outer part. The outer part of the tripod joint takes the form of a hollow cylinder and has three recesses. In the inner part of the joint, three rollers are flexibly mounted in the recesses of the outer part.  An axle boot protects the joint from wear and from the grease fill being lost.
