Link and Haas Schleifmaschinen in Siemens motion world magazine

In 1963 Waldemar LINK GmbH & Co. KG developed Germany’s first ever prosthetic hip joint. The renowned company from Hamburg is a real driver of innovation when it comes to developing implants. So we couldn’t be happier that the endoprosthesis experts at LINK use our Multigrind® CB grinding machines to produce their high-quality knee implants.

The surface of a prosthetic knee joint has up to 600 (!) grinding paths next to one another. It’s a real challenge for the CAM software, CNC controller and grinding machine, particularly because we have to work with very hard materials (like cobalt-chrome-molybdenum alloys).

In the current issue of Siemens motion world 2-2012, there’s an article about the interplay between the CAM software used at LINK, the SIEMENS CNC controller (Haas machines use the Sinumerik 840D sl) and our grinding machines.
