Worm shaft

  • Worm shaft

A worm is a shaft with threads and constitutes a special type of gear with helical-cut teeth. Inside a worm drive, the worm drives the worm gear. Using worm drives allows very high reduction ratios to be achieved. The grinding production procedure is then recommended if the workpiece precision and surface quality need to meet stringent requirements. The use of modern grinding wheel technologies, such as CBN, in various bounds allows high stock removal rates to be achieved, enabling economic production similar to those of milling techniques.
