THINK BIG - act precise!

Highest dimensional accuracy for complex worm shafts becomes standard.

Precision grinding in a new dimension.

This makes manufacturers of compressors, pump shafts, extruder screws, screw conveyors, racks, broaching tools, trapezoidal and ball screw spindles stand up and take notice: Haas grinding machines broaden the horizon when it comes to the complete machining of long to extra-long screw shafts. There is now an ideal solution for these workpieces, which previously could hardly be machined in one piece: The high-tech grinding machines Multigrind® CB and Multigrind® CB XL, in a massive Multicube design made of thermally stable mineral casting with cast X and Y axes. Here unwanted force interference, vibrations and machine expansions are reduced to a minimum. The maintenance-free grinding spindle with enormous drive power in the center of the machine work envelop ensures maximum power and dynamics.

The Multigrind® CB and Multigrind® CB XL machine is available in three versions with a machine table length of 1,400, 2,600 and an impressive 3,200 millimeters. Completely configurable for the individual requirements of the customers and for even more dimensional accuracy and precision in the familiar Haas precision. With axes travel of 500 millimeters (Z axis), 410 / 850 (Y axis), up to 3,200 millimeters (X axis) and + 70 ° / -250 ° (C axis).

"With the XL version of the Multigrind® CB we exceed boundaries”

"With this high-tech machine, we want to take grinding technology an XXL step forward. With the largest machine table of over 3 meters, worm shafts of up to 3,200 millimeters can be manufactured in a single clamping process much more precisely and economically than before. The X axis can be equipped with up to four machine tables sections, which is new. The Multigrind® CB XL is the masterpiece of our engineering skill and for us the most complex high-tech grinding machine that we manufacture in Trossingen. A real benchmark. ”Ingo Maier, Head of Application Engineering at Haas Schleifmaschinen spares no comparison and looks forward to new complex challenges from our customers.

A case for the Haas Multigrind® CB.

Combined machining with cylindrical grinding, profile grinding, non-circular grinding, relief grinding, thread grinding and many more. To process worm shafts economically, the Multigrind® CB not only uses all the necessary grinding techniques, but also if the workpiece features require milling techniques, the  Multigrind® CB machine has this process capability as well. Because reclamping takes time, money and reduces precision,  at Haas the complete machining of a worm shaft  takes place in just one set-up, powerful and µ-precise.

Precision built in as standard

Thanks to the integrated measuring unit as standard, complex grinding processes with the Multigrind® CB can be controlled and reproduced. For example, by independently measuring the workpieces and precisely aligning the tools. Worn out grinding wheels are kept exactly in shape with the dressing process in the machine. The area of the worm shaft that has already been ground is monitored with in process compensation measurement, shape deviations are recorded and precisely compensated, within a µ, by the Multigrind® Horizon grinding software. A control program that thinks and steers independently.

Multigrind® CB XL: New on the X axis: Up to 4 machine tables section, each with its own powerful drive.

Each Multigrind® CB is in principle unique on its one .

Multigrind® CB and Multigrind® CB XL are not simply available off the shelve, but in various versions and configured to meet the requirements of each individual customer.

The new machine table = four machine tables.

Maximum precision in excess length. The Multigrind® CB XL 3,200 moves up to 4 standard machine tables on the X axis! Each equipped with their own powerful drive and with a lot of freedom of movement in their effective scope of activity. Depending on the requirements of the workpiece, a programmable tailstock and up to 2 hydraulic self-centering steady rest, static or rotating, ensure maximum stability in the grinding process. With a capability to grind worm shaft length of up to 3200 millimeters and a workpiece weight of up to 1,200 kilograms, this brings the desired stability and thus dimensional accuracy and precision.

Have complex worm shafts ground automatically.

The degree of automation is determined by the customer himself, the Multigrind® CB XL is ideally equipped for this. The Haas automation experts have already thought out all the advantages and possibilities. Haas grinding machines are perfectly integrated into the digital world in terms of Industry 4.0. Interfaces to ERP systems and business registration systems as well as control systems for the entire value chain are already a reality at Haas Schleifmaschinen. Automatic loading, quick set-up, "flying" grinding wheel change over and coolant nozzle change. With the Multigrind® CB XL, robots and grinding machines are an unbeatable team for the production of large quantities.

65 grinding wheel Tool changer, change over in only 10 seconds.

The automated unmanned series production of worm shafts requires grinding wheels in different sizes and designs. The standard intergrated tool changer holds up to 15 grinding wheels. If that is still not enough, you can choose the large Haas tool magazine. A tool changer with 65 grinding wheels, with a diameter of up to 300 millimeters and 20 coolant manifold devices, will definitely support the completely self-sufficient production unit. All necessary grinding and cutting tools are ready and can be changed automatically by the Multigrind® Horizon control software in seconds.

Digital pre-grinding of worm shafts made easy.

The entire grinding process of worm shaft machining is displayed in advance with maximum accuracy. The new visualization software from Haas Schleifmaschinen don't uses triangulation and approximation to provide unrivaled accuracy. Real data is shown here instead of just simulating it. The new Multigrind® Styx visualization software detects even the smallest discontinuity. Discontinuities, for example in transitions or ripples in the surface of the worm shaft are visualized with pixel accuracy. For µ-accurate correction and adjustment even before the grinding process starts. Time, material and nerves are saved without great effort before Multigrind® CB is put into action.

Let's see what works.

In order to highlight the performance of the Multigrind® CB the grinding experts from Haas have again come up with something very complex. A best-off workpiece that contains everything that makes up the complicated world of screws: be curious. Ergo, everything that makes a Multigrind® CB in combined machining in one piece possible. How the result looks like and how professionally it can be produced on the Multigrind® CB can be looked at in Trossingen.

It is already worth making an appointment.
