Grinding machine on wheels: The Scissors Grinder Bicycle

You never stop learning when it comes to grinding, even if, like me, you've been dealing with grinding machines and grinding technology for a few years now. A few weeks ago there was an oldtimer festival for bicycles in Stuttgart, where this beautiful scissors grinder bicycle jumped in front of my camera.

Scissors grinders were and are micro-entrepreneurs (today mostly motorised) working in the travel industry, whose task was or is to sharpen blunt knives, scissors, scythes etc. again. The fact that this profession was not always highly regarded can be seen from the fact that the term "scissors grinder" has a negative aftertaste to this day. By the way, it was called a scissor grinder because its job was to grind scissor blades to fit.

And because Haas Schleifmaschinen's sales department is a kind of mobile business, I'm wondering whether we should design the next Multigrind® grinding machine with wheels? Let's see if the design can still do it for GrindTec 2014...

See you soon
