Baseball and High-Precision Grinding
The famous baseball player Dizzy Dean (1910-1974) is known not only as the legendary leader of the “Gashouse Gang” of the St. Louis Team in 1934 but also for a few nice quotes, like: “It ain’t braggin’ if you can do it.”
Now what exactly does that have to do with our Haas grinding technology? Well, Dizzy Dean was famous for his high-precisicion pitching mechanics, and high-precision is quite a popular subject everywhere Haas Schleifmaschinen goes. We offer our customers high-precision CNC multi-axis grinders to produce high-precision, complex components.
0.45 mm profile radius
In a recent example, our application engineers lapped a diamond dressing roll with a 0.45 mm profile radius. The profile on the radius was produced within a +/- 1 µ tolerance band. Easy to say, isn’t it? But quite difficult to do. And we did it. So according to Dizzy Dean this ain’t braggin’.
