Question: You have thought about the future of tool grinding, what kind of development and change can we expect?

Answer: I will try to describe the challenges with 6 keywords. Time will tell whether a new gold standard can be defined from this.

Maximum precision.

Here, the requirements increase year after year. Our customers' customers expect more precise tools in order to achieve significantly better results themselves. The willingness to pay more for this is not there. This is understandable, since the grinding process does not have to take longer to increase precision. If we launch a high-precision machine with the Multigrind® Radical, the market will measure itself against these results. We have always had this positive experience when introducing the high-tech grinding machines of our Multigrind® series. The significantly better result ultimately defines the new gold standard.

More flexibility.

The time when the same tools were always produced in high quantities in stock is a thing of the past. Consistent just-in-time production on demand is faster, more efficient and significantly more profitable. In our concept, batch sizes from 1 to 1000 are realized in a chaotic assembly. The fully automated complete machining of standard tools and special tools is flexibly aligned to the incoming order. This applies to very small batches from batch size 1 as well as to large quantities. The investment in a new production cluster pays off immediately.

All-in-One-Only.

A tool grinding machine that can grind all customer requirements. Just a moment ago a profile grooving plate and now threading tools again. Maximum precision for milling cutters, plates and drills. Flexibility is the trump card, not grinding one after the other, but a colorful mix. One machine for everything, this production method must finally become the gold standard. Programming the Multigrind® Radical is super simple and makes quick production changes possible. A process that can be fully automated if desired. Provide parts and get started right away.

From now on complete machining.

The automated complete machining of tools in only one clamping must be the goal. The additional unclamping and clamping of workpieces costs valuable time and precision, and our customers can no longer afford this today. The economical production of tools with the best surface quality as well as shape and dimensional accuracy can be achieved by complete machining. At Haas Schleifmaschinen, we only think so.

Radically fast.

We declared battle on the non-productive times and won. Especially in tool grinding, there was enough potential for new best times. For example, the wheel and tool change at high speed. In total, this increase in productivity makes the difference and thus creates a new benchmark. If you now form several Multigrind® Radicals into a production cluster, you can handle large production volumes with very little space. Fully automated, unmanned series production becomes the industry standard with the new Multigrind® Radical.

Super simple.

The new fast will also be very easy to handle. Our customers and new customers will pay particular attention to this. The Multigrind® Radical can be quickly integrated into production without any major programming effort. No time-consuming training during installation or later during operation. Production start-up with the new Multigrind® Radical begins immediately and without any loss of time. Additional performance, fast service, current updates and physical information are available as added value in the cloud without delay. Simple, secure and fast.

In summary:

At Haas Schleifmaschinen, we didn't let up on the new development of the Multigrind® Radical until we were able to fundamentally improve on the existing. We want to give all tool grinders a perspective on how they can achieve maximum added value for their future with a small investment. The goal was not a new gold standard, but the resulting consequence. We are happy to leave this assessment to our industry experts.
