The "Süddeutsche" asks, Dirk Wember answers
Haas Schleifmaschinen: Dirk Wember.
"What is Dirk Wember doing?"
It is not often that large daily newspapers or magazines take a serious look at medium-sized businesses. The backbone of the German economy is often conjured up, especially by politicians during election campaigns, but when the campaign is over and the backbone sometimes has backaches, hardly anyone is interested. At least that's my impression.
All the more I am pleased that Elisabeth Dostert from the Süddeutsche Zeitung found the way from Munich to Trossingen and conducted a long, very open interview with my colleague Dirk Wember. SZ readers may have already seen the scribbler in today's print edition (21.07.2014). Dirk Wember talks to the SZ and answers questions such as why it is better to build grinding machines on land at Haas than to work for BMW, and how he and his family felt after moving from Toronto to Trossingen.
The interview is available in the SZ-Online-edition.
I wish you a successful week and: Grinding with attitude.

PS:
Shortly after the Soccer World Cup, Louise Taylor, by the way, in an article in the British Guardian, investigated the interesting question of whether there is a connection between the World Cup title of the German national soccer team and the success of the German economy in recent years? So one thing is certain: Joachim Löw, who grew up only 80 km from here in Schönau in the Black Forest, is just as conscientious and meticulous a worker as the many inventors, engineers and technicians at our medium-sized mechanical engineers.
