150 years Werkstatt + Betrieb. Congratulations!
Werkstatt+Betrieb: 150 years - Congratulations!
Production instead of feuilleton
There is hardly a technician or engineer in this country who does not know the WB Werkstatt + Betrieb. The trade magazine from the favourite publisher of the German feature section Carl Hanser is not only one of the most respected trade journals for production technology and machining in Germany. "The practical machine designer" was the name of the forerunner journal when it was founded in 1867. In the same year, Federal Chancellor Otto von Bismarck founded the Federal Chancellery of the North German Confederation, which was converted from a military alliance into a federal state of all German states north of the Main Line on 1 July 1867. Also in 1867, Alfred Nobel applied for a patent for his dynamite invention, and Werner von Siemens published his invention of the dynamo machine.
Practical instead of cloudy words
Since 1 October 1933, the trade journal has been called Werkstatt + Betrieb. The journal was so important at that time, writes today's editor-in-chief Helmut Damm in the anniversary issue worth reading, that during the Second World War it was "delivered to the front if necessary". The WB still sees itself as a specialist medium for production technology and machining. As in the past 150 years, practical relevance is important to the editors today, especially in times of industry 4.0, artificial intelligence and the cloud. An attitude that we very much welcome as practice-oriented manufacturers of grinding machines. We congratulate the whole team of WB Werkstatt + Betrieb on their 150th anniversary and are looking forward to the future!
